Lightning strike starts fire in Olive Branch

Posted: Updated:
ALEXANDER COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A lightning strike started a fire and rattled the nerves of an Olive Branch family Sunday evening.

It happened at a home off of Route 3 around 7:30 p.m.

According to the Horseshoe Lake Fire Chief Josh Mckee, a lightning bolt broke out a window of the home and caught a chair on fire.

Fire crews responded immediately and put out the flames.

We're told the broken window and chair are the only damages.

The chief tells us they responded to a second lightning strike in a rural area of Olive Branch, but didn't find any other damage.

This was the seventh fire for Horseshoe Lake crews within three days.
