A lot of times when we talk about local events in the Heartland we may say the whole town is going to be there.
Usually that's an exaggeration, but not when you're talking about the New Hamburg Picnic.
Just about every person in town and many more outside of it will take part in the event that stretches back more than 100 years to raise money for the town's only church, St. Lawrence.
Here's a schedule of events:
Things get going Friday at 5:00.
Many vendors, children's activities, a petting zoo, and lots of great food will open up then.
There's also a washers tournament at 6:30.
Then the big day Saturday when the grounds open up at 3:00 with the annual dinner at 4:00-7:00.
The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, kids under 5 eat free.
At 6:00 is the annual turtle race. Kids 14 and under should bring their own box turtle and register about 15 minutes before the race.
