DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) -

Du Quoin Police are diving in to an investigation of some backyard vandalism.

Police say earlier this week, someone used a sharp object to slash the liners of two above ground pools in the same neighborhood.

At a pool on Peach Street, owners say the vandals stabbed the liner hard enough to crack the pool shell. That caused it to spring a leak.

"We do a lot of yard work and we've been trying to fix it up back here," said Bradley Clark. "We've put so much money into the pool, to have someone come along and do this - it's really disappointing - you know."

A pool liner can cost between $500 and $1000 to replace.

Homeowners in Du Quoin say they don't understand why vandals targeted their pools.
