Missouri I-70 to be named "Purple Heart Trail"

Posted: Updated:
MISSOURI (KFVS) -

Legislation to designate Missouri I-70 as the "Purple Heart Trail" has been signed into law.

The bill was originally sponsored by state representation Jerry Nolte. Nolte has said the purpose of the trail is to add a visual reminder to travelers of the price others have paid for their freedom.

In other states where purple heart trails have already been designated, signs are placed along the roadway to make travelers aware. Signs in Missouri will be funded through private donations.

Nolte has said the purple heart trail is a great way to pay tribute to the many Americans who have fought in defense of our nation.

When the bill takes effect as law on August 28, Missouri will join 45 other states that have already designated purple heart trails.
