RIPLEY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Some hay bales caught fire on a truck in Ripley County on Tuesday.

Logan Creek Fire chief Terry Slayton says a large truck was hauling some hay bales traveling west on Highway 160 toward Doniphan when the driver noticed sparks coming out of the bales.

He pulled over near the Webb's Car lot and got out of the truck.

The driver pushed the hay bales off the truck bed so the truck would not catch fire.

Logan Creek Fire Department put out the fire.

The fire burned the bales and about 50 square feet of grass in front of Webb's Car lot.

The cause of how the hay bales caught fire is undetermined.
