CARMI, IL (KFVS) -

A Carmi man is accused of child sex abuse.

Phillip Lowery II, 38 of Carmi, is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 9.

Lowery is a correctional officer at the White County Jail, according to the Edward County State's Attorney's Office.

The Edward County State's Attorney is serving as a special prosecutor on the case.

Lowery turned himself in to police Thursday night.

His bond is set at $100,000. Lowery paid $10,000 and bonded out.

He has been placed on administrative leave.
