PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

A Perryville man is behind bars for allegedly trying to attack paramedics with a knife.

It happened Thursday evening on the 800 block of North Main.

Police and EMTs were at the home treating 40-year-old Bradley Shad for some sort of medical emergency.

As officers were speaking to Shad's wife in the hallway they say they heard screams coming from the kitchen.

When police entered the room, Shad was allegedly holding a knife.

Ambulance crew members told officers he'd charged them with the knife in full swing.

Police told Shad to drop the knife.

But he allegedly refused and moved toward the officers with the knife.

The officers say they had to taser Shad to get him to stop.

Shad now faces three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action.

No police or EMTs were injured.
