JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -
A death investigation is underway in Jefferson County, Missouri after authorities find a woman dead inside a home and her estranged husband in the basement with several cuts.
According to Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer, deputies making a well being check at a home on the 100 block of Harvest Grove in Imperial found 38-year-old Deborah McDonough dead in a bedroom around 7:45 yesterday morning.
A concerned neighbor stopped at the home earlier to check on McDonough and her children.
After not finding either parent, the neighbor took the children until deputies could arrive.
During the investigation, deputies say they found 54-year-old Matthew McDonough in the basement with apparent self inflicted cuts.
McDonough was taken to the hospital and after treatment he was arrested on second degree murder charges.
