MARSHALL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Marshall County man is accused of sending threatening text messages while drunk.

Johnie P. Miller Jr., 47, of Benton is charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place and terroristic threatening 3rd degree.

A Marshall County deputy received a complaint that a man was outside his home on Bryant Road drunk, armed with a firearm, and sending threatening text messages.

The deputy met the man sitting in his garage armed with a 9mm pistol in a holster on his side.

There was a strong smell of alcohol coming from him, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.

The deputy read the text messages. The messages told the receiver that if the police were called, Miller would kill them.

Miller was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
