Several break-ins have police in three counties on alert.

Two business burglaries happened late Sunday or early Monday in Madison and Iron counties.

The Madison County sheriff says two suspects broke into American Legion post 248 and made off with the ATM machine.

At around the same time over in Ironton, someone busted a patio door at Ryno's and took cigarettes and cash.

The Madison County sheriff wonders if his case is connected to one in St. Francois County from last week. That's where three masked suspects stole cigarettes and alcohol from Cheap Smokes in Bonne Terre.

For his part, the Bonne Terre police chief says he does not see a connection.
