VINCENNES, IN (WFIE) -

Indiana State Troopers arrested two men on Friday for manufacturing meth in a cornfield near Vincennes.

On Friday afternoon around 2:12 p.m., troopers stopped a pickup truck at Fourth Street and Barnett after receiving information the vehicle had been trespassing in a cornfield south of Vincennes near the Wabash River.

When the troopers approached the truck, they immediately detected a strong chemical odor associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Troopers say they searched the vehicle and found a small baggie containing meth behind the passenger seat and determined that liquid meth had been dumped on the front passenger floorboard just before the traffic stop.

The driver was identified as 35-year-old Robert C.W. Getchell of Bicknell, and the passenger was 25-year-old Brandon Parish of Vincennes.

The property owner of the cornfield later showed troopers where he spotted the vehicle. When troopers searched the area they found a tank of anhydrous ammonia and other items commonly used to manufacture meth.

Getchell and Parish were arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail where they are currently being held on bond.
