CARLISLE COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -
A deadly car crash led police to the discovery of hundreds of dollars worth of stolen jewelry.
Crews arrived on the scene of a crash on KY 80 between Arlington and Milburn around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Kentucky State Police report Jesse Brock, 34, of Louisville was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang eastbound on KY 80E west of Arlington when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a pole.
Brock was pronounced dead at the scene by Carlisle County Coroner Steve Freeman.
Brock was wearing a seatbelt.
He was found with large amounts of jewelry stuffed in his front pockets, according to Carlisle County Sheriff Steve Perry.
The Carlisle County Sheriff's Department was contacted by a trooper at the scene who met with the county coroner at a local funeral home to take photos of Brock's body and jewelry. Several hundreds of dollars worth of jewelry was found on the body of the man.
It was later discovered the jewelry was stolen from the home of the Carlisle County Sheriff's secretary, which is located approximately 3.5 miles from where the crash occurred. The secretary positively identified the evidence pictures taken of the stolen jewelry and said there were no other items taken from the home.
