About 200 people showed their support in Ellington Saturday for three wounded soldiers.
Operation First Response's Tribute to the Troops had originally planned to honor four wounded soldiers. But, one soldier is in the hospital.
Patriot Guard Riders escorted the three soldiers from Centerville down to Ellington where they were welcomed with open arms from hundreds of people.
They united at the Ellington High School where they had a tribute to honor the soldiers inside the high school gym.
Many speakers including a wife of one of the soldiers were there to share their stories and honor Sgt. Jason Nielson (Army), Cpl. Ronnie Porta (Marines), and Spc. Jacob Sones (Army).
There were a lot of tears and a lot of cheers for the men who gave their all and are remembered for it. There was also a posting of the colors, a band there playing music, silent auction, T-shirts and flags waving.
Operations First Response is an organization since 2004 that helps out Wounded Warriors and their families with personal and financial needs. They have done these type of events all around the nation but the first time in the Heartland.
Donations were collected today as well as the silent auction and selling of T-shirts to help out future wounded warriors and their families.
There is already another event in progress called the "Long Road Home Project."
Five U.S. veterans are biking across the country to heal war wounds & raise money to help war Veterans.
Their journey begun on July 15 and runs through October 14.
The 90 day bike ride will take Veterans trough 12 states pedaling more than 4,000 miles.
Funds raised will go towards the cost of the trip for the riders and a portion will also benefit the mission of OFR.
