One man arrested for meth in Paducah

MCCRACKEN COUNTY (KFVS) - One man is in custody for meth related charges in Paducah Sunday morning.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies executed a search warrant at the 2100 block of Clay Street just after midnight.

Officials say when they arrived at the home, they were me by two large, aggressive pit bulls.  The dogs allegedly attacked police, and officers say they were forced to shoot them.  

Van Nguyen, 26, of Paducah was at the home when officers arrived.  He tried to flee the scene, but officers were able to catch and arrest him.  

At the home, deputies found nine bags of crystal methamphetamine, morphine, ADHD pills, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia.  The meth found on the scene was valued at over $1600. 

Officers also found numerous firearms, drug paraphernalia, evidence of drug trafficking, and surveillance equipment.  The McCracken County Animal Warden also responded to the scene, who took possession of the pit bulls.  

Nguyen is at the McCracken County Regional Jail.  He was charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine over 2 grams, first and second degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Harboring a Vicious Animal.  

The McCracken County Sheriff's department says additional arrests are likely as a result of the search.
