Fredericktown City Lake running low

Posted: Updated:
FREDERICKTOWN, MO (KFVS) -

The ongoing drought continues to take it's toll on the Heartland. Now, it's causing a water shortage at City Lake in Fredericktown.

"It's our drinking water," Mayor Kelly Korokis said.

According to someone who lives nearby, parts of the lake that are usually about waist high are now dried up.

"I've lived here six years and have never seen it this low," said Dave Couch, a resident who lives on the lake.

The high temperatures combined with the drought are causing the problems.

The city is urging people to conserve as much as possible.

Korokis says the Boy Scout Ranch at Nims Lake plans on releasing 100 million gallons of water to supplement City Lake.
