CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A Jackson man says he finally got some good news from the United States Postal Service after his murdered son's ashes ended up lost in the mail.

Randy Lindsay says he couldn't believe it when the postal service called to tell him they found the package containing his sons ashes.

Lindsay says they were hand delivered to him at 9:30 Wednesday night in Forney, Texas. That's where he is staying for a while with his sister.

For the family, tragedy struck in February with the murder of 23 year old Joshua Lindsay. The young father was shot to death in North Carolina.

Randy Lindsay asked his sister to mail Joshua's remains from Cape Girardeau to Texas in July.

Texas is a place the Lindsay's once lived, and a state Josh loved. Lindsay planned to scatter Joshua's ashes there.

Weeks later the show box had still not arrived. A letter notified Lindsay that they were nowhere to be found.

Lindsay says he was told the lost box was located somewhere between Missouri and Iowa.

Richard Watkins with the United States Postal Service says it's hard to tell exactly who found the package. But from there it ended up in at the mail recovery center in Atlanta.

Lindsay says he feels it was like finding a needle in a haystack.

It's a miracle for him he says after twice losing the son he loved so much.
