NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Months after the announcement for a new Nashville water and snow park headed by Gaylord Entertainment and Dolly Parton, the attraction may have hit a road block.

The plan for the 114-acre park was to open as early as spring 2014 with an expected 500,000 visitors in the first year and at least 450 new jobs. But Parton implied Friday the project could be delayed.

"That is a kind of - we are working on it. That's kind of in a holding pattern right now. There are a lot of changes going on, I am not really sure. We are still working on that," Parton said.

The water and snow park would be built in Donelson near McGavock Pike and Pennington Bend Road.

Parton already operates a theme park and a water park in Pigeon Forge, about 190 miles away in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee.

But a lot has changed in the last few months, as Gaylord agreed in May to sell its hotel brand and the rights to manage its four hotels to Marriott for $210 million. With the sale, Gaylord would still own and operate the Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, WSM-AM and its other attractions, but the company will cut more than 300 corporate jobs in Nashville.

"I wouldn't put my name on it, wouldn't be involved, unless it's exactly right for me and everyone else," Parton said Friday.

In response to Parton's remarks Friday, Gaylord Entertainment would only issue the following statement:

"Our company is 100 percent committed to the Dollywood water and snow park project."

Channel 4 News also reached out to Mayor Karl Dean's office for comment, but so far they have not returned our call.
