House foundation cracking and sinking are problems that repairmen are seeing more of with drought conditions so prevalent.
Charles Richey gets calls when you notice cracks in your foundation.
"This is unlike anything we have seen in a long time," Richey said.
Lately, he's getting a lot more phone calls.
"When we went to actually put in the windows, they wouldn't fit," Richey said. "We couldn't open the old windows. When you investigate they are actually having structural problems due to the drought."
Richey says the first thing to look for is cracks in the foundation.
"It is probably an indication that there is something going on probably below the footing of your house," Richey said.
Next, Richey says cracks usually show up around windows.
"It's where we see a majority of the cracks," Richey said. "So kinda what that's telling us at first glance is basically this part of the house right here is sinking."
Richey says sinking and foundation problems aren't a do it yourself project and generally aren't too cheap either.
"Prices can range from anywhere from $3,000 to $50,000," Richey said. "If it's a very large structure and you have to do the whole thing, it's considerable more."
