CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Students at Southeast Missouri State crossed the final thing off their checklist Sunday. They picked up their textbooks before classes began Monday.

Southeast offers undergraduate students the opportunity to rent textbooks.

The textbook rental department says they have been extremely with the increased student numbers and expect to remain that way even after classes start up.

Students we spoke with were looking forward to the fall semester.

"This is only my second year here, so it's went by pretty quick," said Senior Brandon Thomas. "So, I'll just try to soak it all in and see what I get out of it."

"Well I'm a freshman, so I'm kind of scared," said Freshman Krystal Johnson. "I might get lost. I may be late. Some teachers might get mad at me, I'm not sure."

Classes begin at 8 a.m. Monday for the fall semester at Southeast. Southeast is expecting a record number of students, but final numbers have not been released.

Classes also begin Monday for SIU Carbondale, and on Tuesday at Murray State in Murray, Kentucky, according to their website.

SIU students also headed back to class Monday.

There's a week full of welcome events planned for students to get to know one another and settle into campus life.

Last week students moved into the dorms.

Administrators are concerned about enrollment numbers. They have been down for a few years.

However, many are still enrolling for fall semester and hope to have a final number in about two weeks.
