NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The deadline for the steel workers union and the Noranda Aluminum to agree on a new contract is coming up at the end of August.

Noranda Plant Manager Frank Davis released this statement:

At Noranda, we deeply value our New Madrid associates, their families, and the community.  We currently are in negotiations with the union for a new collective bargaining agreement.

As the existing agreement will end on August 31, the company is committed to work in good faith with the union leadership to secure a new agreement.
