ZEIGLER, IL (KFVS) -

A Ziegler, Illinois dad's proud to say his 9-year old son listened, and then helped save his life.

"I owe my life to him," said Aaron Wright.

Those are not words you usually hear from a father of a 9-year-old.

"I'm just glad he was there," Aaron said. "Who knows how long I would have laid there."

Aaron Wright hasn't had a seizure in more than 10 years. But Monday night, that all changed.

It was just him and his son Cole all home alone.

"My dad was getting ready to go to bed," said Cole Wright, Aaron's son. "His legs were wiggling and he fell and hit the heater. Then, I just turned him around, put a pillow on his head and called 911, that's it."

Cole seems to have experience beyond his years. But where did this young hero learn it?

When Cole called 911, the lady who answered was a little confused because Cole's father used to be the one responding to these calls.

"Of course, I knew most of the rescuers," Cole said.

Maybe he picked it up from his father who used to be an EMT.

"He told me to dial 911 if there's an emergency," said Cole.

"It seems to go in one ear and out the other," said Aaron. "I didn't think he was listening to me but he was."

When you look at your dad now and know he's sitting right next to you, how does that make you feel?

"Pretty good," said Cole.

Did you do the right thing?

"Yeah," added the 9-year-old.

Aaron Wright says he's never been prouder of his son and doesn't know what caused the unexpected seizure.
