The following is a transcript of a speech by Ted Strickland, former governor of Ohio at the Democratic National Convention.
TAMPA, FL (RNN) - With one less day than they intended for festivities, Republican National Convention organizers found themselves scrambling over the weekend to fit speakers into new slots after tropical storm Isaac forced them to cancel Monday events.
A number of speakers slated for Monday - like South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former Alabama Democratic Congressman-turned-Republican Artur Davis - have found new speaking slots later in the week.
A few non-headlining speakers got cut altogether, and others canceled their appearances to deal with the approaching storm.
The headlining speakers, however, will still speak during the 10 to 11 p.m. ET hour.
"We eliminated parts of the program that weren't essential in order to retain our headliners," Romney adviser Russ Schriefer said during a conference call Sunday evening. "We're increasing the time of the events."
Schriefer said the convention festivities will also start a half hour earlier and they'll be making some of the speeches shorter.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott, originally scheduled to speak Tuesday, canceled his speech to focus on Isaac. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is considering skipping the convention as forecasters predict a landfall of the storm somewhere from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle, possibly as a Category 2 hurricane.
Originally scheduled as a full day of events, Monday's session will be cut to a five to 10 minute gaveling in of the convention at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, which will almost immediately go into recess until Tuesday.
