CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The United Way of Southeast Missouri is aiming for the same fundraising goal the group came just short of raising last year.  Their goal is to raise $950,000.

The organization kicked off its 2012 campaign Thursday in Cape Girardeau.

Campaign chairman and Proctor and Gamble Manager Darrick Johnson says the goal is reachable, if everyone can just give a little more.

"If we all give five percent more, we'd actually be over a million dollars in giving in this area," said Darrick Johnson, United Way Campaign Manager. "And you know that when you have that type of money, you really make a difference for a lot of people."

The United Way Of Southeast Missouri supports more than 50 programs at three dozen agencies across the region.

More than 200 volunteers are involved in the 2012 year's campaign.
