PASCOLA, MO (KFVS) -

A Wardell man is injured and faces criminal charges after a crash that police say may have been caused by drug use.

It happened Saturday on County Road 264/Route B in Pascola.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Augustine Rivera was not wearing a seat belt when his eastbound Mercury Sable hit a parked vehicle and then continued on to run down a stop sign.

Troopers say they suspect Rivera was under the influence of Narcotics when the crash occurred.

The parked Ford Ranger was unoccupied when Rivera's vehicle hit.

Rivera suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital for treatment. Troopers say he will face charges of driving while intoxicated (drugs) when he is released from the hospital.
