BOLLINGER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A murder investigation continues in Bollinger County, Missouri.

According to Sheriff Leo McElrath, earlier in the day Thursday, three children came home from school and found their father dead in the bedroom.

Coroner Charles Hutchings said the man is 35-year-old Jeffrey Scott Robins. He was shot in the head.

Hutchings said it looks as though Robins died from an apparent shooting. An autopsy was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday.

"We believe this was personal," said Sheriff McElrath. "I don't believe there is any danger to the public. Right now we don't have any suspects."

The sheriff says the family's home is located in a rural part of the county on 834.

As of Tuesday, the Major Case Squad remained active in the investigation.

Sheriff McElrath says there is no evidence of forced entry and they do not believe the shooting was drug related.

Sheriff McElrath says he believes they saw their father last before they went to school Thursday.

"I loved my dad so much," said Robin's fourteen year old daughter, Jaime. "He was everything to us, we just don't understand."

"He was a wonderful father," said Jaime's mother, Renee Shaffer. She says she and Robins remained friends. "We are so thankful to the community and everything they have done for my children."

Other neighbors who live along County Road 834 say they are scared because the suspect is still out there. However, Sheriff McElrath says he believes they have no reason to be afraid.

McElrath says he believes the suspect came in through the front door that Robins normally left unlocked.

Right now the major case squad is very busy interviewing people across Bollinger County that might have come in contact with Robins recently.

If you have any information including details on suspicious vehicles, please call authorities.
