BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Earlier this week at a news conference Les Miles announced that Chris Faulk had been injured during practice. The coach said, "He got a bit of an injury and we don't know exactly how bad."

Well, it looks very bad. The Times Picayune reported that the left tackle has been ruled out for the season with a "major knee injury" that will likely require surgery and extensive rehab.

With that, the Tigers lose arguably the strongest piece of arguably the strongest offensive line in college football.

Miles has named three guys that will likely replace him in the lineup.

Josh Dworaczyk, a 6-year senior; sophomore La'El Collins or Alex Hurst are all in line to fill the shoes left by Faulk.

Miles said the coaching staff won't make a decision right now on what it will do Saturday.

With Tyrann Mathieu off the team, LSU has now lost two important starters and although the loss of Faulk may not have gotten the publicity that the Honey Badger did, quarterback Zach Mettenberger has now lost the left tackle that protects his blind side.

For a while, it looked like the college football world was going to be upended in the first week of play, but it all worked out according to plan in the end.

Blake Sims was good enough to finish his first start at quarterback for Alabama, getting plenty of help from Amari Cooper, T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry, and the second-ranked Crimson Tide held off West Virginia...
Blake Sims took a seat on the bench next to Jake Coker after leading Alabama to a score and the two chatted for a few minutes before it was time for the offense to go back on the field.
