SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -
A 28-year-old woman was found stabbed to death and her boyfriend was arrested Friday.
The body of 28-year-old Danielle Keown was found in a basement at 867 Stanford around 11 a.m. Friday.
Keown was left fatally stabbed in the home, according to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
Her 23-year-old boyfriend has been arrested.
Melvin Lawrence Harris, 23, of Sikeston was charged with murder first degree and armed criminal action. Harris was being held without bond.
A domestic dispute occurred at the home Thursday night between two of the occupants, according to Sikeston DPS. A struggle took place in the basement of the home and led to the Keown being stabbed. It is believed the body was left in the basement until it was discovered by police.
Four residents of the home were taken to DPS Headquarters for interviews.
An autopsy is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington.
Sikeston DPS contacted New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens and the Missouri State Highway Patrol -Troop E, Division of Drug and Crime Control Unit after activating the SEMO Major Case Squad. The New Madrid County Coroner also responded. Troop E's DDCC and the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department assisted Sikeston DPS in conducting several interviews and processing the crime scene.
