CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau Police are investigating an overnight shooting.

Officials say numerous 911 calls started coming in around 3 a.m.

Callers reported shots fired in the 200 block of S. Benton Street. Police also learned a man had been shot.

Before officers located the victim, police say a man with a gunshot wound walked into the lobby of the police department.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No information is available about the identity of the victim, or his condition.

Police say they found bullet casings at the scene on S. Benton St. and are gathering more information from witnesses.

"If stuff like this continues to go around then its too close for comfort," said Crystal Banks, who is a neighbor. "There's children and homes. You know if the person was to shoot the wrong way they could shoot your loved one and you're not never going to know who that was. And they aren't going to say I shot you or I shot this round and it hit through there. And that becomes scary."

So far, no arrests have been made.
