BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Tight end Tyler Edwards, linebacker Tahj Jones, linebacker D.J. Welter and offensive lineman Evan Washington will not play this season for the Tigers.

During his Wednesday SEC media call, head coach Les Miles confirmed the players would be out for the 2012 season, but he would not give a reason. The Times Picayune reports that a source close to the LSU program said the four players were academically ineligible.

Miles did say that redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jordan Allen suffered an injury on a kickoff in last Saturday's victory against Washington and will be lost for the season.
