Miners defeat Freedom to close in on title

The Southern Illinois Miners defeated the Florence Freedom 9-4 Thursday to take a 2-0 lead in the best of five Frontier League Championship Series.

The Miners can claim their first Frontier League title with a win at Rent One Park Saturday.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. in Marion.
