CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The weather will be nice for Missouri hunters planning to take part in the opening weekend for bow hunting. That's for both deer and turkey.

Conservation officials say while hunters are excited about the first season of the year, safety should be the number one priority.

Business is booming for the start of the hunting season.

"Lots of broad heads, arrows, we're selling lots of permits," said Danny Foutz of Foutz Hunting and Fishing Shop. "We've been doing lots of rework, putting cables on bows getting people ready."

We're told conservation officials will be out in full force all weekend long.

"The most important thing for our deer hunters to remember is that when they are going to be hunting  out of a tree stand that they need to have on some sort of full body harness," said Russell Duckworth, Mo. Dept. of Conservation. "Because a lot of the accidents that we have with hunting each year involve people that fall out of tree stands."
