Man in wheelchair hit by car

Posted: Updated:
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A wheelchair-bound pedestrian is hospitalized after being hit by a car in McCracken County.

It happened around 8 p.m. Saturday in the 3700 block of Clarks River Road. When deputies arrived on scene, 63-year-old Jimmy Choat of Paducah was unconscious.

Investigators say Choat was not using a cross walk area when he tried to cross the road and was hit by an eastbound car.

Deputies say the wheelchair had no reflective devices and the driver of the car didn't see him until it was too late.

Choat was taken to a local hospital where he's listed in critical, but stable condition.
