SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois Department on Aging is reminding seniors to get their flu shots.
Department Director John Holton says September is Healthy Aging Month and he says it's a good time for older adults to take preventative health measures. Holton says seniors, especially those with chronic health conditions, are at increased risk for flu. The department says seniors should make it a priority to get vaccinated against flu.
Health experts say the flu season runs from October through May. Illinois officials say flu vaccines are starting to arrive at local health departments, clinics and pharmacies statewide.
