2 accused of armed robbery at welcome center

PEMISCOT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Pemiscot County officers arrested a couple after an armed robbery early Monday morning.

According to the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department, it happened at the Welcome Center off Interstate 55, just north of Hayti, around 3:30 Monday morning.

They say a man and woman robbed three people in a car traveling to Michigan.

No one was hurt, but the couple got away. Just about 10 minutes later, Portageville officers caught up with them.

Markarios Kirkwood, 38, of St. Louis is charged with armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, assault 1st degree, robbery 1st degree, and parole violation.

Beverly J. Hodges, 27, of Blytheville, Ark. is charged with robbery 1st degree.

Kirkwood and Hodges were taken to the Pemiscot County Jail.
