REYNOLDS COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A minivan hit a pedestrian Saturday morning after the driver claimed she was "blinded by the sun."

It happened shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday on MO 72 near Route TT in Reynolds County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Patrol, John C. Walker, 42, of St. Clair was hit by a Chevrolet Uplander driven by Shirley J. Hayes, 76, of Bunker, Mo.

Troopers say the van had crested a hill and the driver claimed she was blinded by the sun before Walker was struck.

Walker received moderate injuries and was taken by EMS to a Rolla hospital for treatment.
