    Cooks’ BBQ and Catering in Jackson went up in flames Tuesday night.Jackson Fire Chief Jason Mouser tells Heartland News the building is a total loss, but they were able to stop the fire from spreading to the shed just a mere feet away.He said the fire appears to have started in the stove area of the restaurant.Copyright 2013KFVS. STE. GENEVIEVE, MO (KFVS) -

Ste. Genevieve County leaders celebrated the county's 200th anniversary Monday.

Ste. Genevieve County was formally established as a part of the Territory of Missouri on October 1st, 1812.

Monday's celebration began with an opening ceremony that included presentation of the colors, recognition of the men and women of Ste. Genevieve County who have served in the military, dedication of a 200th anniversary memorial tree, and placement of a time capsule, according to Bob Mueller with the Ste. Genevieve Historical Society.

This ceremony was followed by a reception.

A presentation on the history of the county was given. Art painted by Ste. Genevieve County artists with the county as the theme were on display as well.

Various county offices, both at the courthouse and offsite locations, held an open house until 3 p.m. with various historical documents on display.
