Woman, man accused of attempted murder of woman's husband


A woman and another man is accused of trying to murder the woman's husband early Tuesday morning in Weakly County, Tenn.

Rusty Plunk was shot at his home at 1040 Corinth Road near Sharon, Tenn.

Amber Plunk, 27, of Sharon, Tenn. and Steven D. McMillin, 39, of Trezevant, Tenn. are charged with conspiracy to commit first degree murder and criminal attempt to commit first degree murder.

Amber Plunk is the wife of the victim.

The Weakley County 911 center received two calls from Amber Plunk starting at 2:29 a.m. on October 2 in which she told dispatchers that her husband had been shot.

She told dispatchers she had no idea who shot him.

Rusty Plunk was transported by Weakley County EMS to Volunteer Hospital in Martin for a gunshot wound to his chest and a second gunshot wound to his arm.

He was transferred to Vanderbilt Hospital where he is expected to recover from his wounds.

Police arrested McMillin at his home in Trezevant.

When questioned by police, Amber Plunk and Steven McMillin admitted their involvement in the shooting.

Amber Plunk admitted she placed a pistol outside the home knowing McMillin was outside When woke her husband up and told him she heard a noise outside, according to the Weakly County Sheriff's Department.
