PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Paducah police arrested two men accused of trafficking marijuana.

Christopher L. Jones, 25, address unknown, was arrested on charges of giving an officer a false name or address, fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence and trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces), and on a Massac County warrant charging him with failing to appear on drug and weapons charges.

Clifton Barner, 22, of Strathmoor Boulevard, was arrested on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of marijuana and giving an officer a false name or address.

The two were arrested after a routine traffic stop by Paducah police Tuesday afternoon.

Officer Melissa Dillon stopped a vehicle driven by Phil Tucker of Paducah for failing to signal a turn. While officers were speaking with Tucker and his passengers, one of the passengers fled on foot.

Officer Lofton Rowley caught Christopher Jones about three blocks away, and found him with marijuana.

Rowley's K9 partner, Fox, indicated there were drugs in the car, and Rowley found a large amount of marijuana in a backpack belonging to Jones. Officers said Jones had more than three ounces of marijuana.

Another passenger, Clifton Barner, was arrested after officers found 3 grams of crack cocaine and marijuana in his jacket.

Jones and Barner both initially gave officers false names, according to the Paducah Police Department. They were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Tucker was cited on charges of driving with a suspended operator's license and failing to use a turn signal.
