Kentucky

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department will be partnering with area businesses and organizations this year for its first ever Halloween night (Oct. 31) event which is being called "Operation Safe Halloween" in Paducah. The event will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include special appearances from "Safety Pup" and "Darren" the Lion. K-Mart located on Lone Oak Road has agreed to not only participate, but to allow the use of their parking lot for the event.

Illinois

The Anna City Council passed Trick-or-Treat hours for Wednesday, October 31. The City Council says trick-or-treating will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The University Mall in Carbondale will be hosting their annual mall-wide safe trick-or-treat and Mall-O-Ween costume contest event for all children ages 12 and under. The event will be Wednesday, Oct. 31 with trick-or-treating from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the costume contest at 5 p.m. with registration starting at 4 p.m. Age categories for the costume contest include: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Organizers say first, second and third place winners in each category will receive prizes.

The Cambria Christian Church will host a Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. All children are welcome to attend. The event is the same night as the Cambria town-wide Trick or Treating. Organizers say candy, chili, hot dogs, soda, hot chocolate and apple cider will be served. Carbondale Mayor Joel Fritzler has proclaimed Wednesday, October 31, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. as the official "Trick or Treat" hours for Carbondale children. The Mayor is encouraging residents to indicate their willingness to welcome the children by keeping on their porch and exterior lights. He also urges that "Trick or Treaters" wear reflective clothing or tape and that parents check all treats for potentially harmful objects. Mayor Fritzler and the members of the City Council ask the cooperation of all citizens in making this a happy and safe occasion for our community.

The City of Du Quoin says Trick-or-Treating hours will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31. The city says this is for children 12 and under in costume and they can trick-or-treat only to houses with porch lights on.

The West Frankfort City Council has set October 31 as the date for Trail of Treats and trick or treating. The Trail of Treats will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. and the trick or treating hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

Missouri

Bethel General Baptist Church near Advance will hold a "Fall Fest" on Wednesday, October 31 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A costume contest will be held at 7 p.m. Bethel Church is located about 6 miles west of Advance on Hwy. C.

The city of Bloomfield, Mo. City Hall at 400 North Prairie will be handing out candy from 4 - 6 p.m. on October 31.

The Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department along with Real Rock 99.3, K103, KISS 93.9, Haunted Studios by JJAB Studios and Younghouse Party Central are getting set to kick off the 2012 Haunted Hall of Horror at the A. C. Brase Arena. The frights will begin Friday, October 19th and continue Saturday, October 20th, Thursday, October 25th, Friday, October 26, Saturday, October 27, Tuesday, October 30 and Wednesday, October 31. The Haunted Hall Horror will be open from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays, and from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on weeknights. All ages are invited, but kids twelve and under must be accompanied by an adult. This haunted house will take you on a long, dark journey through the nooks and crannies of the A. C. Brase Arena. Visitors should be prepared to see monsters, scary creatures, and other chilling sights. The price is the only thing that is not scary at just $7.00 for anyone ages six and up. Children five and under get in free of charge.

Crossroads Church in Jackson is sponsoring a Tractor Treat on Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at its location at 4400 E. Jackson Blvd. Turn on Sappington Drive near Buccheit. There will be games, a hayride, candy, and a scary house. It is a free event.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department will conduct their annual Halloween Sex Offender Compliance Check on October 31. The police department says officers will confirm registration information on as many compliant offenders as possible, and will confirm that certain offenders are following Halloween-related restrictions. The First Baptist Church in Sikeston will host a Fall Festival on October 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Organizers say there will be candy, games, funnel cakes, chili and more.
