IRON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

An Iron County man accused in connection with a drug-related death pleaded not guilty.

Justin Bales appeared with representation for his arraignment at 9 a.m. at the Iron County Courthouse Thursday.

He pleaded not guilty to manufacturing and intent to distribute.

The victim is 18-year-old Vanna Barton.

Court papers say Barton's boyfriend says Bales injected Barton's left hand with heroin just before she died.

Someone found her body in an Ironton motel in July.

Bales is due back in court at Nov. 7 at 9 a.m.
