ANNA, IL (KFVS/AP) - A southern Illinois woman is accused of suffocating her 11-month-old daughter.

Prosecutors say Stacey R. Tiffin, 39, of Anna has been charged with one count of first degree murder in connection to the death of a minor.

The criminal complaint alleges that Tiffin placed her hand over the mouth and nose of Cassandra Tiffin on September 16, knowingly causing the baby's death.

Tiffin is set to appear in court on Friday morning at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.

Carly O'Keefe is at the courthouse and will have updates throughout the day on Friday and on kfvs12.com.
