SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Fire crews battled a fire in a home on County Road 448 in Scott County, Mo. into the early hours of Friday.

Fire officials tell Heartland News that the trailer home is a total loss due to smoke and water damage.

Scott County rural fire department chief, Jeremy Perrien, said the cause of the fire was undetermined as of early Friday morning, but he believed it to be electrical in nature. The fire is not considered to be suspicious.

Chief Perrien said they got the call to the home Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. when a neighbor called in an explosion.

He said a gas tank of a car in the garage exploded sending flames into the attic catching the home on fire.

The people who lived in the home were out of town.

No one was hurt.
