CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -
A mobile home was destroyed in a fire on Saturday night.
According to Gordonville Fire Chief Jerry Siemers, a residential trailer fire broke out on the 400 block of Estate Drive, just east of Cape Girardeau Saturday at around 8:30 p.m.
One woman lived at the home but is uninjured. The cause is undetermined at this point but it is not considered suspicious. Gordonville Fire Department along with mutual aid from Whitewater, Cape Girardeau and Millersville battled the blaze until after midnight.
The home is a total loss.
Crews dumped over 10,000 gallons of water on the residence. The cause is undetermined at this time and under investigation.
Fire fighters returned to the scene Sunday morning around 4 a.m. to put out some flames that re ignited in the back bedroom.
Family members say that the woman who lived there was not injured and has family and friends to stay who say they'll help out.
Family was looking Sunday through the home to see if there was anything salvageable.
"Everything inside is burned and ruined, including videos and pictures which you can't replace," according to one family member.
When Heartland News crews were at the scene Sunday, the woman's son came out of the house with a burned up box from the house. The son opened it and to his surprise there was several old pictures, including one of one woman's wedding.
