GALLATIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A Cave-In-Rock man has died after semi crash in Gallatin County Tuesday.

It happened on Illinois Route 13 near Pool Road around 5:35 p.m.

Thomas E. Neumann, 46, of Cave-In-Rock was driving a 1996 Kenworth truck tractor with a 1994 Vantage trailer west on Route 13. The trailer was unloaded.

Illinois State Police say the truck crossed the center line into eastbound traffic. It went off the south side of the road just west of Pool Road.

It continued a few hundred feet before striking a ditch about 30 feet south of the road. It then went another several hundred feet westbound next to the road before coming to a stop.

Other drivers checked on Neumann and found he was suffering from medical trauma not related to the crash. His condition required CPR and was treated at the scene by Gallatin Co. Ambulance Service personnel.

Neumann was taken to the Harrisburg Medical Center where he died at 6 p.m.

The Saline Co. Coroner's Office will be investigating the cause of Neumann's death.

The truck had only minor damage.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and the Equality Police Department assisted in the investigation.
