KARBERS RIDGE, IL (KFVS) -

A Central Illinois man was injured after a fall at the Garden of the Gods Saturday morning.

Saline County Central Dispatch says they received a 911 call of a male that had fallen at 11:45 a.m.

Saline County deputies, Saline County EMS and the U.S. Forest Service responded to the Garden of the Gods in southeastern Saline County.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office, Stephen C. McCullough, 21, of Mattoon, fell about 20 feet from a rock near the observation deck and landed on the trail at the park.

McCullough was taken from the scene by Saline County EMS to an awaiting Air Evac helicopter where he was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Deputies say McCullough suffered a possible broken knee and back injury.

Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown urges visitors to use caution while visiting the Garden of the Gods park. Leaves are starting to fall and the trails can be covered and become very slick when they are damp. Visitors are asked to wear appropriate foot wear and to use caution when near the edge of the rocks.

Officials say over 200 visitors were already in the park by noon Saturday morning.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
