MARION, IL (KFVS) -

Online 'Pink glove dance' videos are growing more popular in support of breast cancer awareness.

A lot of local businesses are in on it, including the Marion, IL Veteran's Affairs Medical Center.

Marion VAMC's Federal Women's Special Emphasis Programs put together a video this year.

"October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month," says program manager Shayla Ramos. "The Federal Women's Program wanted to do something different to raise awareness about the disease. When we saw the Medline Pink Glove Dance videos from last year (on YouTube), we knew that we wanted the Marion VA to do a video for this year."

Medline is a company that makes medical products, including the surgical gloves medical personnel commonly wear when taking care of patients.

These gloves come in a variety of colors, including pink.

Three years ago, Medline produced the first Pink Glove Dance video in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer.

The response was over 13 million hits for the video on YouTube.

Now, Medline sponsors an annual Pink Glove Dance Competition with a grand prize of $10,000 to be donated to the winner's breast cancer charity of choice.

Marion VA's video features a group of over 200 pink gloved dancers from VA facilities in the region including a dancing WWII POW named Jimbo, and interviews with two employees who are breast cancer survivors.

The video is one of over 250 submissions competing in the Medline Pink Glove Dance Competition.

Many other Heartland organizations are also in the running.

Voting takes place on the Medline Pink Glove Dance website through November 2nd.
