CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

There is a clearer picture of what Quazi Nafis was like during his time in Cape Girardeau, as former neighbors speak out.

Thusith Parsanna lived at the same complex as Quazi Nafis on Broadway in Cape Girardeau.

"He was a very silent person but when we had leisure time, we played football or cricket together," Parsanna said. "But, we didn't see he would do such a thing."

Irene Ayieko knew Nafis through the international student program.

"Nafis was such a bright kid," Ayieko said. "He was very smart and quiet. You would not think he could have such a bad idea in his heart."

Ayieko says she saw Nafis on a weekly basis.

"He didn't know any indication of having such plans."

Students that prayed with him say he was very proud of being a Muslim. He prayed 5 times a day.

Nafis faces charges of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to al Qaeda.
