MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS) -

The city of Mayfield will receive a $15,000 Homeland Security Grant to provide equipment for the fire department.

The city applied for the grant earlier in the year to provide face masks and a mask leak-fit tester for fire department members.

"We appreciate so much the work of our firefighters, and their safety needs are important.  The receipt of this money will allow us to provide an even safer work environment for our employees,"  Mayor Teresa Cantrell said.

The grant application was submitted by Safety Officer-Asst. Fire Chief Steve Legate.
