Posted: Updated:
SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Sikeston Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently investigating the felony theft of a local business.

Around 6:30 a.m. on October 18, a theft was reported by Joel Nix from his yard on West Murray Lane. Nix said a Twin Tank Air Compressor and a Hobart Welder/Generator were both stolen from the back of his truck overnight while it was parked in his yard.

Both items were rented by Nix from Mike Rentals Construction Rental Company in Sikeston.

The equipment has been valued at $5,500.

DPS is now investigating the theft and they believe the property may have been sold or may still be in the Sikeston or Malden area.

The owner stated that this brand and type of equipment is not common to this area.

The stolen property has been described as:

  • A white colored Hobart 11,000 watt generator/welder, serial number MA024649Y, weighs over 500 pounds and is valued at $3,500.
  • A black colored "MI-T-M-2" Tank Gas engine air compressor, serial number 20142459, valued at $2,000.

If you know anything about the theft or location of the stolen equipment, you are asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-4711 or crime stoppers at 573-471-1500. You could be eligible for a cash reward if you have information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the offenders.
