CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Police are looking for a suspect after a reported store robbery Thursday night in Cape Girardeau.

According to Sgt. Rick Schmidt, dispatch received a call around 7:50 p.m. about a robbery in progress at Jasper's on Morgan Oak.

Sgt. Schmidt says a man walked into the store armed with a knife and demanded money.

Police say the clerk was hurt after the suspect flashed a knife then hit her on the head with a bottle.

Police are actively searching for the suspect.

"The clerk received a laceration on the forehead," according to Sgt. Schmidt. "She's being treated a local hospital."

No word on the description of the suspect.
